We discussed counting on starting from 5 in mathematics today as an addition strategy. For example, when adding 5 and 3, instead of counting all 5 dots and all 3 dots to get to 8, students would say "5, (and count the three remaining dots), 6, 7, 8." If your child is ready for more advanced mathematical thinking, have him or her count on starting at a higher number. For example, 102 plus 3. Enjoy your Monday!
Hi room 16 families! Our students have an earned a celebration with their good choices! We have choice time on Friday, and this Friday each student can bring one toy to play with from home. The toy needs to be smaller than your child's backpack, and cannot be a toy weapon of any kind. I look forward to celebrating with Room 16 tomorrow! Also, as a friendly reminder, we have library tomorrow. Homework is also due. Thank you!
