A few updates...

We have received an electric pencil sharpener! Thank you to our donor family! We are pleased to report that our pencils are now sharpened with ease.

Today was the first day of our first grade writing rotation. This is similar to language lab in kindergarten, simply renamed. All of the first graders are grouped according to English language ability (just for this time of day, about 8:45 - 9:20). We then have targeted language and writing instruction in accordance with their current abilities. If your child mentioned that they go to writing with Mrs. Zeitler or Ms. Petersen now, that is the reason. We explain it to the first graders as a chance to meet new friends and to get to know other teachers. We will all be working on the same general concepts, but in slightly different ways. Tomorrow, we will begin writing informational pieces about sea otters!

Tomorrow, Wednesday, is the Braly Walk-a-thon! Please have your child dress appropriately to walk, with perhaps both a hat and some sunscreen applied to protect from the sun. Teachers cannot apply sunscreen, so please apply before school. I look forward to a fun day of walking!
