October is an exciting time in Room 16! We change seats about every two months, so the first graders came in to their desks being in new locations today. We also take each desk change as an opportunity to review our school agreements: I am safe. I am kind. I am responsible. Changing seats enables students to make new friends, and also helps if behaviors with previous table mates have become a bit too chatty.
It was wonderful to be able to have face time with parents at conferences last week! I enjoy getting to know everyone a bit better. Many of you had the opportunity to meet our student teacher, Rachel Schaffer, as well. This week, October7th - October 11th, is her solo week. This means that, though I am on campus, she is given the opportunity to teach in the classroom independently. She and I have been working together to prepare for the week, and I have great confidence in her abilities! If students mention my absence the next few days, however, you will know why. Thank you for encouraging our students in the wonderful opportunity to have two teachers!
